Recently, the internationally renowned academic platform Research.com released the 2024 annual ranking of the world's top scientists. Professor Wei Yu of Yunnan University of Finance and Economics has been listed again after his first inclusion in 2023. In the 2024 Social Sciences and Humanities list, 90 scholars from Chinese universities were selected, with Professor Wei Yu ranked 34th. He is the only scholar from Yunnan Province to be included.
Research.com is one of the world’s leading academic research portals, and its rankings are based on the D-Index (Discipline H-Index) metric. This ranking is evaluated using various data sources, including OpenAlex and CrossRef, with scientometric data on citation metrics as of November 21, 2023. The criteria for scholars to be included in the top scientists ranking are based on the D-index, the proportion of contributions within a specific research field, and the awards and achievements of the researchers. The D-index (Discipline H-index) ranking metric only includes papers and citation values within the surveyed discipline.
