摘要:Free boundary/moving interface problems are challenging both theoretically and numerically. In this general talk, I will introduce some application examples and corresponding differential equations models. The applications include Stefan problems of unstable crystal growth, drop spreading, flow past obstacles (stationary or dynamic), electrical voids motions, wave propagation modeled  by Maxwell equations, multi-phase flows etc.  If time permits, I will present a brief review of numerical methods for solving those challenging problems, particularly Cartesian grid methods such as Peskin's Immersed Boundary (IB) method, the Immersed Interface Method (IIM), the Immersed Finite Element Method (IFEM), and augmented approach.

主講人簡(jiǎn)介:

李治林,教授,美國(guó)北卡羅來(lái)納州立大學(xué)數(shù)學(xué)系終身教授,是國(guó)際上著名的計(jì)算數(shù)學(xué)專家,1989 年赴美在華盛頓大學(xué)留學(xué),師從LeVeque 教授,1994 年獲博士學(xué)位后在UCLA 從事博士后研究工作,1997 年至今在北卡州立大學(xué)數(shù)學(xué)系工作至今。他在SIAM Journal on Numerical Analysis,SIAM Journal on Scientific Computing,Journal of computational physics,Numerische Mathematik 等計(jì)算數(shù)學(xué)頂級(jí)雜志上發(fā)表論文100 多篇。擔(dān)任 Numerical Mathematics: Theory, Methodsand Applications 等多個(gè)雜志的編委。主要研究領(lǐng)域?yàn)椋河?jì)算數(shù)學(xué),浸入界面法(IIM)、浸入有限元法(IFEM)以及快速浸入界面法(AIIM)等去有效求解涉及含有奇異源項(xiàng)、不連續(xù)的物理參數(shù)及不規(guī)則區(qū)域上、自由邊界、移動(dòng)界面等問(wèn)題的偏微分方程的數(shù)值方法,模擬計(jì)算流體力學(xué)方面的問(wèn)題。
